She is the daughter of the well-known Hopi/Tewa potter Thomas Polacca, Granddaughter of Fannie Polacca and Great-Granddaughter of Nampeyo. Carla learned their traditional ways of making pottery and today most commonly emulates the deep incision work first developed by her father, carving detailed Kachina and animal designs.
