Anderson Peynetsa and Avelia Peynetsa are a married couple who collaborate on pottery making, signing their works as AA Peynetsa. Anderson Peynetsa, born in 1964, is a skilled contemporary Zuni pottery painter and sculptor. He learned pottery making from Jennie Laate, his high school arts teacher, and progressed through her beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses. His works are known for their precise, flowing lines, and some feature relief figures. Anderson signs his individual works as A. Peynetsa and is active from the 1980s to the present, creating traditional black-on-redware, polychrome seed pots, jars, ollas, bowls, canteens, and duck effigy pots. He is the son of Charles and Wilma Peynetsa, brother of Agnes Peynetsa and Priscilla Peynetsa, husband of Avelia Peynetsa, and father of Ashley Peynetsa.
Avelia Peynetsa, born in 1964, is the great-granddaughter of the famous potter Catalina Zunie and also learned pottery making from Jennie Laate at Zuni High School. Avelia is active from the 1980s, creating black-on-redware, polychrome jars, bowls, seed pots, effigy pots, frogs, and ducks. She is the wife of Anderson Peynetsa and the mother of Ashley Peynetsa. Avelia learned pottery making from Jennie Laate.
