Joyce is from the Jemez Pueblo, Fire Clan, and has been making storytellers for over 20 years. She was taught by Mary Lucero, her mother, who is also very well known for her storytellers. Joyce's work is presented at The Indian Craft Shop, U.S. Department of the Interior, Washington, D.C. and included in Southwestern Pottery: Anasazi to Zuni by Hayes and Blom, Berger and Schiffer's Pueblo and Navajo Contemporary Pottery, and several other publications.
