Paul Naranjo (1960-1993) was a visionary potter from Santa Clara Pueblo. His masterful use of sgraffito techniques and intricate designs on rich brown pottery captured the essence of nature and geometric patterns. He was a pioneer in creating dynamic pottery adorned with entire wildlife scenes. From 1988 to 1993, he showcased his innovative pieces at the renowned Santa Fe Indian Market and received distinguished awards, including Best of Division for his non-traditional pottery, new forms using traditional methods and materials, and a First Place ribbon for his stunning sgraffito work without stones, in any color except black.
