This rare find is from Acoma pueblo artist, Debbie Brown. Debbie was born in 1962 into the turkey/Sun Clan at Acoma and is a member of a large family of distinguished potters and pottery matriarchs. She is the granddaughter of Jessie Garcia who along with Debbie's mother Sarah Garcia taught her the art of pottery making. She is the sister of such notable potters as Donna Chino and Goldie Hayah. She is known for her brilliant slips, her solid painting, the detail and fine execution of her designs. Debbie is known for her exquisite renditions of the Acoma Parrot, Kokopellis, polychrome designs and other figures and her works are eagerly sought out by collectors.
