Manuelita was well known for her wide range of talents including jewelry, pottery, sculpture and beadwork. After 1970, she taught many students at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. She also served as curator at the American Indian Arts Museum.
This exquisite figural piece features two carved Avanyu serpents with a shimmering micaceous slip. Manuelita also added a turquoise heishi necklace. Signed ML.
