Lucy Year Flower Tafoya was born in Pojoaque Pueblo and married Jose Tafoya of Santa Clara. She was a daughter-in-law of Camilio Tafoya and a sister-in-law of Joseph Lonewolf and Grace Medicine Flower. She began making pottery in the 1970’s and her pieces combined carved designs and some sgraffito on the surface. She won numerous awards for her carved pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market and other events.
This bowl comes from a private collection and is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist.
