Our Pottery Collection brings together two extraordinary traditions authentic Native American pottery and the renowned Mata Ortiz pottery of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Native American pottery reflects centuries of cultural heritage, with each pueblo and tribe developing distinctive techniques, forms, and designs that continue to be passed down through generations. Our collection includes works from Santa Clara, Hopi, Zuni, Santo Domingo (Kewa), Zia, San Juan (Ohkay Owingeh), San Ildefonso, Acoma Pueblo, Navajo, and other respected Native artists.
Alongside these traditions is the remarkable story of Mata Ortiz pottery. Inspired by the prehistoric pottery discovered at the ancient archaeological site of Paquimé (Casas Grandes), Mexican artist Juan Quezada revived this nearly forgotten art form in the 1970s using traditional hand-building techniques.
