Albert Jake

(35 products)

Albert Jake, Navajo, was born at home in Ramah, New Mexico in 1959, the fifth of eight children, with one older brother, three older sisters, and three younger sisters. He attended school in Ramah through the sixth grade, then in Springerville, Arizona, and finished high school in Pine Hill, New Mexico in 1978.

The drawing came first. Albert was blessed with a natural hand for it, and after high school he learned to sandpaint, an art that supported him for the next several years. Silver came later. His sister Louise taught him the fundamentals of silversmithing, and he has spent decades refining his work. Today, his work has a reputation of excellence.

What has never left him is the challenge of taking raw silver and stone and making something unique and beautiful of it. He works in both contemporary and old styles, and says he loves every kind of piece he makes. Away from the bench, Albert is happiest outdoors and spending time with his two daughters.

Each piece is handcrafted by Albert himself and is one of a kind. We are proud to bring Albert's work to you here at PuebloDirect.com.
