The Ajax mine is located in the Candelaria Hills in Esmerelda, Nevada near the Candelaria Silver mine. The Ajax mine is known for producing excellent bi-color turquoise nuggets ranging from very dark green to a beautiful blue. The higher grades show the full range of these colors in the same stones.
The Ajax mine has switched hands many times over the years but is being actively mined by the current owners and producing quality material, though in relatively small quantities.
