Caroline Lucero-Carpio was born ca. 1962 as a member of the isleta Pueblo. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Fine Arts in 1996. She also studied at the prestigious Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been a making pottery for nearly three decades, 17 years of which she also has been making bronze sculptures. Two of her larger than life-sized bronzes stand in front of the Isleta Resort and Casino on the Pueblo grounds. Her work finds inspiration in the traditions of her people, in the beauty of her surroundings and from Mother Earth.
This vintage piece is beautifully incised around the rim and inlaid with turquoise heishi. Two small beads are broken.
